A big, big thank you to everyone who came for the Opening Night of the 8th Angkor Photo Festival! We hope you’ve recovered from last night’s festivities, as today’s events are already about to kick off (more about that at the end of the post).
This was the first year we’ve held the opening night at the outdoor gardens of the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor – the set up took almost the entire day and more manpower than we had – thank you to all our friends who chipped in to help! Thanks too to the staff of the Raffles for helping us, and of course, Cyrille Carmona of the Raffles for being an amazing person to work with.
This was also the first year we decided to organise an official ‘Opening Party’ – hosted by the amazing Pari at her Khmer cocktail bar, Asana Old Wooden House! The stars of the party were no doubt The Cambodian Space Project — the band’s amazing music kept everyone dancing all night long. A big thank you to the band for being so excited about being a part of the festival – we hope you’ll be back again next year!

For tonight, we’ll see everyone at 6pm at the McDermott Gallery for the opening of two exhibitions – Labyrinth, a group show featuring 6 Japanese photographers by Tanto Tempo Gallery, and Portfolio, by Mario Algaze. At 8.30pm, we’ll all be moving to the FCC Angkor for the second evening of slideshows.
See you soon!
