And so, we’ve come to the end of the 7th Angkor Photo Festival. A big thank you to everyone who made the past one week absolutely amazing. I think some of us will be needing another week to recover from the one we just had.
At the closing night, we kicked off with a talk and slideshow by Roger Ballen, followed by a screening of the work by this year’s Angkor Photo Workshop participants!
Earlier in the afternoon, a five-member jury panel met up to view the work and to select the winners for the 2011 Photo Prize!
And the winners are….
2nd Runner-Up: Pham Ngoc Lan, Vietnam “Vietnamese Chronicle”
1st Runner-Up: Adli Ghazali, Malaysia “Insha’allah”
Winner: Carrie Lam, Singapore “Cure”
A big congratulations to Carrie – who won for herself a Canon Ixus 1000, a cash prize of 1,500 euros, courtesy of Paris Match, and her work will also be soon published in an issue of Paris Match magazine! Adli went home with a Canon Legria FS305, and Lan won for himself a US$100 book-publishing voucher from Blurb!
We want to thank again all the friends, partners and supporters that made the festival possible. Tomàs, who we only met a few weeks before the festival began, but who became an indispensable part of the team. Kim, who helped us tirelessly every night at the slideshows, Ying Ang and Sheila Zhao (who should both consider becoming professional voice talents) for helping us narrate the slideshow texts every night, all the tutors of the Anjali Photo Workshops and the Angkor Photo Workshops, and of course you — for just having been there with us.
This blog will be closed till submissions open for next year’s festival. (Sign up to receive updates via email on our website!)
Goodbye, and see you in 2012!
