Holding Space for the Angkor Photo Workshops

Sustaining a non‑commercial space for care and practice

The Angkor Photo Workshops is a non-profit, artist-led photography education programme based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Since 2005, it has offered tuition-free artistic and professional development to over 450 photographers from across Asia.

For more than two decades, the workshops have been built on a simple but demanding commitment: to remain non-commercial, accessible, and to place the needs of our community first. Each edition brings together visual artists and photographers working in different social and political contexts, creating an informal, non-hierarchical space for sustained learning, reflection, exchange, and lifelong friendships.

The workshops have always been at the heart of our work, and we are profoundly thankful for the community that has grown around them. They continue through the care, time, and collective commitment of many who believe in the importance of sustaining this work.

Why we’re asking now

The 21st Angkor Photo Workshops will take place from 30 January to 8 February 2026. As we prepare for this edition, we need to close the final part of our budget by mid-February in order to deliver the workshops with care and integrity. Once this gap is closed, we will pause this appeal.

Our aim is not just to make the workshops happen, but to do so thoughtfully and responsibly – ensuring participants are supported, mentors are properly cared for, and the programme remains true to its values.

We know there are many urgent needs in the world. If this programme feels meaningful to you, and if you are in a position to help, your support allows us to continue this work for the community of photographers in Asia.

What your support enables
