We focus so much in learning how to take pictures and putting together a photo story, we sometimes need a bit of help learning about the business side of photography. Understanding and implementing better business practices in photography is crucial to succeed and help ensure the longevity of our career in this industry.
This 2-hr crash course aims to inform you of some of the best practices and approaches in negotiating a fair contract and compensation for image licensing and assignments, overcoming objections, protecting our copyright, promoting our work, creating pitches and treatment, and balancing work, life, and personal projects, and finally giving back. I will share actual examples, contracts, and mistakes that I made in the past and Veejay Villafranca and Joshua Paul will also share their experiences.
The talk will cover the following areas:
*EARNINGS vs COST OF DOING BUSINESS
*CONTRACTS
*PRICING & NEGOTIATING
*OVERCOMING OBJECTIONS
*PROMOTION & PITCHES
*MONEY MANAGEMENT
*BALANCING WORK & LIFE
*PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
*GIVING BACK
[Attendance is free and open to all.]
