The team at Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops is thrilled to once again welcome the winners of the Canon PhotoMarathon to Siem Reap to join our festival for the Photo Clinic led by Laurent Dambies, from the 9th to the 11th of December.
The beauty of the Angkor Photo Festival is the many relationships we form with so many parts of the photographic community and the relationship we have with the Canon PhotoMarathon extends our vision of providing free photography education to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.
Organised by Canon and i-Qlick, the PhotoMarathon is the biggest photo competition in Cambodia.
In its seventh year, it is bigger and better than ever, with a total of 18 winners coming from two categories – open category for those aged over 18 and the student category for those aged under 18. And each of these winners walks away with a Canon DSLR Camera and a place in a Photo Clinic with Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops, led by professional photographer Laurent Dambies.
Angkor Photo Association founder Jean-Yves Navel says the photo clinic is an amazing opportunity for the 18 winners. “We believe having access to free photography education is crucial for the development of photography in this region,” Jean-Yves says.
“So many talented people in Cambodia and its neighbouring countries do not have the means to follow their passion for photography or to develop their skills and their career.”
“Free education bridges that gap and provides an invaluable opportunity for these emerging photographers.”
“To learn from a professional photographer like Laurent Dambies is an incredible opportunity and we are so pleased to be involved.”
The 13th Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops gets underway this Sunday, December 3, with a new format and an even stronger focus on education.
It is the longest-running photography event in Southeast Asia and we are proud to be able to provide free workshops of outstanding quality with national and international tutors sharing their knowledge, experience and advice.
But we will also be holding our very popular projection night events every night from December 8 to December 12.
There will also be an exhibition, afternoon sessions and portfolio reviews.
Make sure you check out the full program and join us if you are in Siem Reap.
We can’t wait to see you all.
