Venue: The Bean Embassy
More than 7 million hectares of Cambodia are considered protected by the government, but as journalists have repeatedly shown over the years, these protected areas are under constant threat from loggers, mining operations, poachers and agricultural plantations. As a result, Cambodia has one of the highest rates of primary forest loss in the tropics, numerous wildlife and tree species have been lost entirely, while communities who have long relied on the country’s abundant natural resources are increasingly struggling to survive.

Many people are dedicated to preserving Cambodia’s rich environment and biodiversity—protecting its forests, caring for its wildlife, and promoting its natural wonders through eco-tourism. Each of us has a role to play in ensuring that Cambodia’s beauty endures for generations to come.

Showcasing important issues affecting Cambodia’s environment, this project is a collaboration with independent media professionals in Cambodia.
