Dear all,
As we mark 20 years since the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops began, we find ourselves at an important turning point.
Over two decades, with the support and generosity of many, we have grown into a unique platform for photography in Asia, grounded in community, mentorship, and the belief in photography’s power to reveal, connect and inspire. Together with our alumni, tutors, partners, and friends, we have created a space that has reached many, and fostered a global network of friends.
After careful reflection and discussions, we have decided to place the Angkor Photo Workshops at the center of our efforts moving forward. These free-of-charge workshops, covering both tuition and accommodation, will remain our focus, as they have proven to be the most impactful way to support emerging photographers in Asia. Meanwhile, we will pause the festival component, allowing space for new possibilities to evolve and emerge in the future.
To guide us through this next chapter, we have formed a working group made up of alumni, tutors and long-time supporters. This group will share responsibilities, provide oversight, and strengthen the foundation of our work to ensure the workshops continue to thrive.
We remain committed to the core values that have guided Angkor from the start: openness, inclusiveness, and meaningful engagement through photography.
We’re excited to enter this new phase, and will soon be opening for applications for the 2026 Angkor Photo Workshops!
With love and gratitude,
Antoine, Anshika, Bora, Andrea, Farhana, Katrin, Kosuke, Ming Rui, Roun, Sohrab, Uma, Veejay, Jess
