The Weight of Air

The Weight of Air was created during an artist residency in Iceland. Rather than direct representations of landscapes, the work emphasised the essences of spaces as well as the objects and situations within, relating these to sentiments and ideas in the subconscious.

The Weight of Air continues my exploration of themes such as consciousness, the nature of reality, and the interconnectivity between things. Through images that establish an intimate encounter between Icelandic landscapes and the psyche, the work sets itself against discourse that conceptualizes nature as separate and a “resource” to be exploited for economic gains, and is part of an ongoing series that seeks to evoke contemplation about the way we live and the ties between all beings.
