Phnom Penh - Preah Sihanouk Expressway
Ourng Sam Ang (Cambodia)

Changing from a rice field landscape into a new road, Cambodia's first expressway connecting the two major economic powerful cities in the Kingdom of Cambodia, Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville. By mid-2022, the expressway will facilitate domestic travel as well as act as a lifeline of economic flows between Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville and other provinces through which it passes.A total of nearly 190 kilometers of expressways were invested and built by a Chinese company which cost about 2 billion US dollars under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).Some controversial negative effects have been raised on issues related to the construction, such as the relocation of people living nearby, the relocation of landscaping, and the demarcation of land between villagers in the area.

Biography

Born in 1996, Sam Ang is a graduated student form Don Bosco School majoring in Social media and journalism. He has a passion on documentary photography related to evolution and development of the urban landscape and daily life. His works are exhibited in Cambodia and other Asia countries such as Thailand and Hong Kong (China).

In 2019, he attended a workshop of documentary and Contemporary Photography at Sa Sa Art Projects. In 2020, he attended Studio images workshop at France Institute in Cambodia. Currently, he works as a video creator and his own photography projects.
