This project is about Cambodian and indigenous Vietnamese people who live and fish together on the Tonle Sap Lake in Siem Reap, and how they find a way to survive.
I have always been interested in how these people from a mix of two different cultural backgrounds and nationalities, work and fish together in the same place even though there has been historical discord between these two countries in the past.
Biography
Roun RY is a self-taught photographer based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. His interest in the medium began when first participated in the annual Anjali Photo Workshops in 2010, organized by the non-profit Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops.
In December 2016, he was invited to attend a masterclass with a French photographer Antoine d’Agata and Indian photographer Sohrab Hura during the Angkor Photo Festival.
