9th Edition: Children’s Day!

Feb 2, 2014 | 9th Edition (2013), Anjali WS 2013

ShintaManiAlways a highlight of the Angkor Photo Festival, Children’s Day was held on November 28 on the beautiful grounds of our new partner Shinta Mani.

A part of the Angkor Photo Festival aimed at involving the children from Anjali House, even grey skies and an unexpected downpour could not dampen the children’s high spirits. With the help of our resourceful partners who improvised along with us, the kids and festival visitors were first treated to a special show by wonderful performers from Phare, The Cambodian Circus, and a buffet dinner catered by Shinta Mani with drinks sponsored by our beverage partners Angkor Puro and Pepsi!

This was followed by a special ‘Children’s Edition’ of the Angkor Photo Festival Slideshow Programme, curated by Françoise Callier. Following a presentation by the tutors to their groups, we ended the amazing day by sharing with festival visitors the Results of the 9th Anjali Children’s Workshops!

(Thank you, Paolo Patrizi, Ronna Leon, Sophal Try and Gunawan for the lovely photos!)

_W1A0004A visit to Phare, The Cambodian Circus, is an absolute must if you happen to be in Siem Reap. Embodying modern Cambodian tales with a new generation of talented artists trained in Battambang, the performances mix theatre, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, aerial acts, fire and contortion with an explosion of virtuosity and sensitivity. Phare artists are graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak, a Cambodian non-profit, non-governmental association founded in 1994 by young Cambodians in Battambang.
